DESIGNING MY WEEKEND

I spent last weekend in the Capital immersed in Design:
100 per cent design on Saturday, followed by Focus & Decorex on Sunday.

Here's me on the Sunday morning outside Rococo where I needed to shelter from the rain on the way. Rococo wasn't open damn it - didn't they know I needed sustenance?

Was it worth the trip? Yes it was. For all the things that didn't inspire me directly, there are double the ones that did.

And you cannot help but be inspired by the buzz that is generated by a plethora of creative people all in one place.

So, fresh from my immersion please let me share my highlights:

SATURDAY - 100 PER CENT DESIGN

This was my favourite light fitting. You can customise it by ditching Lizzie and putting in whatever you like up to 5 kilos in weight. Mind you I quite like Liz

KOREA DESIGN had some great things on show:

JOO DESIGN had the most fabulous laptop 'table' now on my Christmas list:

Speaking of which: Design Guild Mark had some lovely things on show

Quoting from their website:The Furniture Makers Company has introduced the Design Guild Mark to reward excellence in the design of furniture in volume production. By the award of this Guild Mark for designs which meet the Company’s criteria, the designers will receive due recognition and the industry will be made more aware of the importance of investment in design. It will mark and reward the work of the finest designers working in Britain and the best of British designers working abroad.
Numbered Design Guild Marks will be awarded to the designers of pieces or ranges of furniture in volume production for retail or contract sale which are judged to achieve excellence in respect of the criteria.

I always love BTC and especially these pendants. Having frequently drooled over pictures in magazines you cannot beat seeing these beauties in the flesh

Totally adore this little radiator too. It is almost pet like. If I could afford these all round my house I'd do it.

William Yeoward     is my new seaside love.
Here's why -

I've always loved the interiors WY puts together so artlessly. These collections are from earlier this year I know but at the end of the Summer it is lovely to revisit them.
They are so liveable and equally gorgeous in a winter seaside pad as in a summer one.

I flipped through the books at work today and immediately imagined walking into my seaside holiday getaway.
Yes I live by the sea but as you know my house is as yet still stuck in a 60s time capsule.
These fabrics are all about creating a relaxed layered beachy feel ready to collapse into at the end of a day at the seaside or a brisk walk along the coast.
This Polperro fabric would look fabulous as a bed throw

And I'd like a chair or chairs in the corner of the living room covered in this:

     but in Navy

And the stripes are to die for - on gorgeous textural fabrics that you long to make into cushions to hug:

This is how my bedroom will look - a place for staying in bed on a Sunday morning with a tray of coffee and croissant or on a windy rainy afternoon with hot toast and butter & a pot of tea.......
........love it, love it, love it
